Music to job hunt by

Keeping up your spirits and energy are key to moving forward when looking for new work opportunities or a promotion.

But if you haven’t had a win in a while, our expert recruiters at The Bagg Group understand that it can be hard to rev up.

Luckily, we have a trick to share with you. In two or three minutes, we can get you dancing –literally.snoopy dancing

When your spirit dips, listen to a tune.

Science says it can be all you need to release some of the feel-good chemical in your brain called dopamine.

The study that gives you a proven reason to pump up the volume was conducted at McGill University. But the findings come with some fine print: You have to genuinely like the music you’re hearing for it to give you a jolt of juice.

Let the music take you back.

To use music to build confidence and increase energy, experts who study the link between music and mood advise playing songs from a time in your life when you were enjoying care-free fun, even if that means going back to your Grade 7 dance parties.

A series of recent studies confirm that music is an extremely powerful memory trigger. It’s not by chance that most of us love the music from our youth. It’s because within seconds, a favourite song from our past prompts our brain to play a mental movie which makes the images and our feelings from that time come flooding back.

It’s a way to feel rejuvenated, and hopeful without even trying.

If you have kids, they may groan if you play your “golden oldies” when they’re around, but positive nostalgic can work wonders to revitalize your attitude before you make a call, or sit down to respond to a job posting.

Create a motivation playlist.

You probably have a playlist for the gym, for trips, for parties –it just makes sense to have one for job-hunting. If you can’t think of tunes to inspire you to stay true to your search, type in “music job hunting” on your favourite music streaming service. You may be surprised by how many people have put together suggestions just for this activity.
